Fathers of Folk Rock
Roger McGuinn (the Byrds)
& John Sebastian (Lovin' Spoonful)
Saturday, December 6, 2008
McGuinn and Sebastian founded the genre of "folk-rock" in the 1960s -- Sebastian with the Lovin' Spoonful (Daydream, Do You Believe in Magic?) and Roger McGuinn as founder of The Byrds (Turn, Turn, Turn; Eight Miles High; Mr. Tambourine Man). McGuinn is credited with developing one of the most recognizable guitar tones in the history of rock and roll. In this show, McGuinn appears solo and Sebastian is accompanied by his band. Their "yin & yang" performance chemistry will produce a memorable evening as they perform individual, hit-filled sets and come together for a grand finale.
